Good morning or whenever you're reading this. I hope the last few days of summer are going smoothly as can be or for those who've resumed classes that they're are going well despite everything. I took an impromptu hotel break in Dublin (literally, I booked it the day I was going) and am back home now but it feels like nothing has changed for some reason.
In today's post, I want to talk about the main character in my upcoming novel "To Catch a Rebel". Her full name is Imotenya Aria Accra but she goes by Aria. She is fifteen years old at the start of the novel. When we meet her she is hiding with some distant relatives in a village called Sapele. Why is she hiding you may ask? Well, Aria is a princess but she isn't just a princess, she is the first female heir of her kingdom and given the patriarchal setting, not everyone is happy about this mainly her uncle. When she was young, there was an attack on her nursery which everyone suspected was her uncle, doing so that's why she's in hiding. However everything changes after her father, the king dies, and she is called back to the palace by her mother who she has not seen for ten years. She is accompanied by her bodyguard and best friend Officer David Sorro (more on him in a later post) and he's the one that helps her the most with the stresses of her new duties.
Despite all of this, Aria senses that all is not well in the kingdom (aside from the fact that there are some people that want her head) and she makes some shocking discoveries that could jeopardize her and her family's future.
Personality-wise. Aria is quite a people person but she can be extremely stubborn. She always tries to do the right thing, but there's a hint of rebelliousness in her, that might be her greatest flaw or strength. She isn't exactly like me expect that we're both short and hate being reminded of the fact.
So that's my main character for you. Does she sound interesting to you?
I hope you enjoy the rest of the day, and I'll write to you soon,
