Hi I know I haven't posted on here in a minute, but I'm trying to find a new swing on things between managing content, testing out the waters of blogging and of course writing books. It's February meaning it's the season of love in all its forms, so it's a good time to stock up on some romance novels. Today, we're going into some of my favourite romance authors and their books. Le's dive in.
1. Nicola Yoon
Okay, Nicola Yoon's books aren't your average girl meets boy books. They're rich in imagination and zest and they're just sweet contemporaries.
I've only read two of her books Everything, Everything and The Sun is also Star which have been made into movies. Instructions for Dancing came out last year is on my To Be Read pile.
Everything, Everything is one of those few books that I've re-read. It's about a girl with an illness who can't leave her house, but when a charming new neighbour moves into the house opposite hers, she finds herself wanting more and that's just the tip of the iceberg in this book.
If you want romances that are just hit the spot and keep you on the edge of your seat, pick up a Nicola Yoon book.
2. Karen Witemeyer
I've only read one book from this author but it introduced me to a new genre and setting that I hadn't tried before and will definitely try again. Witemeyer writes clean historical romances mostly set in the American Prairie of the old West. So any Western fans out there, she is an author for you. Her books are funny, heartfelt and faith-based and most of them appear to feature small towns which always have their charm in books.
I've got a review for To Win Her Heart.
3. Kiera Cass
Author of The Selection Series and the Bethrothed Duology Kiera Cass knows how to spin a royal romance, and should I say, she is the queen of it, providing her books with all the glitz, glamour, yearning and romantic tension that it so deserves.
The Selection is one of the classic Young Adult novels written during the boom of dystopian novels but in my opinion, it's more romance than dystopian.
The Bethrothed is her foray into historical romance which sounds like fun and is definitely on my To Be Read pile.
Her books have feisty lovable heroines like America Singer from The Selection and Hollis from The Bethrothed who you find easy towho root for but at the same time may want to give them a shake. Prince Maxon from the Selection is probably one of my favourite romantic heroes and once you read his America's story you'll see why.
There's also a good dose of politics in those series for you those like their romance with a spoonful of political intrigue.
4. Tessa Dare
For fans of regency romance, Tessa Dare is one of the best out there. Filled with humour heart and swoon-worthy heroes set in stately houses, out the mysterious highlands or bustling towns.
My favourites from her have been The Wallflower Wager, When a Scot Ties the Knot and Beauty and the Blacksmith.
Out of those three When a Scot Ties the knot has to be my most avourite so far. The setting of the Scottish Highlands, the brooding but loyal hero in a kilt no less, the sweet social awkward heroine and the hilarious antics of the soldiers around them just make this one such a compelling read. It also features my favourite romance trope which is marriage of convenience.
So if you're wanting to get into historical romances, Tessa Dare is one of your best bets.
5. Mila Gray
Mila Gray's series of romance standalones, Forbidden Summer is just fantastic. Compelling characters from the protagonists and the side characters.
The series is a military romance series so the heroes are either in the military or have just come out which gives a very interesting dynamic to the books offering lots of opportunities for heartache, but also healing and companionship.
They show glimpses of being in a military family and deal with topics such as PTSD, domestic abuse and mental health issu es but at the same time ,they're soissues full of heart and steamy scenes which make them great Summer reads or honestly any time of the year.
My favourite so far would have to be, okay can I be honest I can't pick a favoutite but if I had to it would be the second book Stay to Me which features a wounded Marine and a girl beginning her internship at a military hospital. A perfect case of forbidden romance. I have to say that Stay With Me is tied for first place with Come Back to Me which I have done a review on.
So these are my favourite romance authors. What are you guys reading this Valentine's season?
